Load an existing PDF or start from a blank A4 page, pick a field type and click or drag on the page to place it. You can add single-line text fields, multi-line boxes, checkboxes, drop-down menus, radio groups with two or more options, and signature boxes. Select a field to rename it, edit its options, set a font size or mark it as required. Names must be unique and cannot contain dots, and names already used in the PDF are checked. Fields are saved as standard AcroForm fields that Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and our Fill PDF Form tool can complete. The signature box is a text area for typing a name, not a certificate-based digital signature, and calculations or scripts are not added. Processing is local.

How to use the Create Fillable PDF Form

How do I make a PDF fillable for free?

Load the PDF, choose a field type and drag a box where each answer should go. Name the fields, then click Create fillable PDF. The download contains real form fields that anyone can type into.

Will the form work in Adobe Reader?

Yes. Fields are saved as standard AcroForm fields, which Adobe Reader, Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, Edge and most mobile PDF apps can fill in. Radio button labels and the signature caption are printed on the page.

Can people sign the form digitally?

The signature box is a large text field where people type their name. It is not a certificate-based digital signature field. Recipients who want to add a drawn signature can use Sign PDF after filling in the form.

Can I create a form from a Word document?

Yes. Convert the document with Word to PDF first, then load the PDF here and add fields over the blank lines and boxes. You can also start from a blank A4 page if you have no layout.

Can the form calculate totals automatically?

No. Calculated fields, validation scripts and buttons are not created. The tool adds standard input fields, which cover most application, booking, order and survey forms without any extra setup.
