Cookie policy

RightSums uses a small number of cookies and browser storage items, most of them needed for the site to work. This page lists each one, what it does and how long it lasts.

Cookies the site needs to work

These are set by our server and cannot be switched off, because without them signing in and form security would not work. They hold no advertising or tracking information.

• rightsums-session: keeps track of your visit, for example so a form you submit is linked to the page you sent it from. It lasts 2 hours after your last page view and cannot be read by the page's scripts.
• XSRF-TOKEN: a security token that stops other websites sending forms in your name. It lasts 2 hours.
• remember_web_… (set only when you sign in): keeps you signed in on that device. It lasts up to 400 days, or until you sign out.

Things saved in your browser

Some settings are kept in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie. They stay on your device, we cannot see them, and clearing your browser's site data removes them.

• bt_region: whether you chose UK or US figures.
• bt_saved_workflows and bt_tool_history: results you saved and tools you used while signed out. When you sign in, they are copied to your account, as the privacy policy explains.
• uh.invoice.layout: whether the invoice creator shows the form alone or with a live preview.

What we don't use

We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell or share information about your visit with advertisers. If that changes, for example if we show ads, this page will list the cookies involved and we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the essential cookies stops sign-in and the contact form from working; the calculators still work. To remove the items saved in your browser, clear this site's data in your browser settings.
