Compress Image uses the same encoders as Google's Squoosh: MozJPEG for JPG, libwebp for WebP, and colour quantisation plus OxiPNG for PNG. They make much smaller files than the quick save built into a browser or phone. Add one image or a whole folder, keep each file in its own format or switch to WebP, and choose either a quality level or a maximum file size. Target size is the answer to upload forms that reject anything over 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB: the tool searches for the highest quality that fits and only reduces the dimensions if it has to. You can also cap the longest side at 1920 pixels or less, which is often the biggest single saving on phone photos. A before and after slider shows the result at full size, and each file lists its old size, new size and the percentage saved. If a file is already well compressed and a new copy would be bigger, the original is kept. Location and camera details are removed from compressed copies. Everything runs in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my images get?

It depends on the image. Phone photos saved as JPG usually shrink by 50% to 80% at quality 75 with no visible change, and more if you also cap the longest side at 1920 pixels. Screenshots and graphics saved as PNG usually shrink by 50% to 80% at 256 colours. A file that is already well compressed may only save a few per cent.

How do I compress an image to 100 KB or 200 KB?

Choose Target file size, enter 100 or 200 KB and click Compress. The tool tries quality levels until it finds the highest one under your limit. If even low quality is too big, it reduces the width and height in steps until the file fits. Leave Reduce dimensions if needed ticked for this.

Will compression make my photo blurry?

Not at sensible settings. Quality 70 to 80 removes detail the eye rarely notices. Use the before and after slider to check text and fine edges at full size. If you see blocky areas or smudged text, raise the quality or use WebP, which holds detail better at the same size.

Should I choose JPG, PNG or WebP?

JPG for photos that must open everywhere, PNG for logos, screenshots and anything with transparency, and WebP for websites, where it is usually the smallest of the three and keeps transparency. Every current browser shows WebP, but some older desktop apps and upload forms still reject it.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Every image is decoded, processed and saved inside your browser using WebAssembly encoders, so the files never leave your phone or computer. You can switch off your internet connection after the page loads and the tool still works.
