Pick one of six positions (top or bottom, left, centre or right) and a format: 1, Page 1, Page 1 of N, 1 / N, or your own pattern using {n} for the page number and {total} for the total, such as 'Section A, page {n}'. You can choose which page numbering begins on, so covers and contents pages stay blank, and the number it starts from. Set the font size from 4 to 72 pt, the distance from the edge in millimetres and the colour. Mirror for double-sided printing swaps left and right on even pages so numbers sit on the outer edge. Numbers are added as real text in a Unicode font and rotated pages are handled correctly. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use the Add Page Numbers to PDF

How do I add page numbers to a PDF?

How do I add Page 1 of 10 numbering?

Choose the Page 1 of N format. The total is worked out for you. If numbering starts after a cover, the total counts only the numbered pages, so a 12-page file numbered from page 3 reads Page 1 of 10.

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Set First page to number to 2, or later, and those earlier pages stay blank. Set the starting number separately, so the first numbered page can show 1 or any number you need.

Can I put numbers on the outside edge for double-sided printing?

Yes. Choose a left or right position and tick the mirror option. Odd pages use the side you picked and even pages use the opposite side, so numbers always sit on the outer edge of a bound document.

Can I change the font of the page numbers?

The font is fixed to a clean sans-serif (DejaVu Sans) that supports most languages. You can change the size, colour and distance from the page edge, and add your own wording with a custom format.
