ODS is the spreadsheet format of LibreOffice Calc and OpenOffice Calc. Add one or more .ods files and each becomes a PDF, with no office software needed. When a file has several sheets you can choose which to include, and hidden sheets start unticked. Each sheet is laid out as a table under its name, on sideways pages by default, and a first row of text is treated as a header. Fit to page width shrinks the text, to no less than 6pt, so every column fits across the page, or you can split wide sheets into column groups. Choose page size, margins and page numbers too. The PDF shows saved cell values without colours, borders, merged cells or charts, and each sheet is limited to 20,000 rows.

How to use the ODS to PDF

  1. Add one or more .ods files from your device.
  2. Tick the sheets you want in each file.
  3. Choose page size, orientation, margins, page numbers and column fitting.
  4. Click Convert to PDF and download the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ODS file?

ODS is the OpenDocument spreadsheet format used by LibreOffice Calc and OpenOffice Calc. It is an open alternative to Excel's XLSX and stores sheets, formulas and formatting in a ZIP package.

Are formulas kept in the PDF?

No. The PDF shows each cell's value as it was last calculated and saved in the file, formatted as text. Formulas are not included, and if a workbook was never recalculated before saving, the old value is what appears.

Why does my PDF look plainer than the spreadsheet?

The converter reads the values in each cell and lays them out as a simple table. Colours, borders, merged cells, charts and images are not reproduced. For a styled copy, use File, Export as PDF in LibreOffice Calc.

Can I convert ODS to Excel instead?

Not with this tool. Open the file in LibreOffice Calc and save it as .xlsx. To turn a PDF table back into a spreadsheet, use PDF to ODS or PDF to Excel.

Is my ODS file uploaded?

No. The spreadsheet is read and converted in your browser, so its contents stay on your device and are never sent to a server. The only thing downloaded from our site is the font used to typeset the PDF.
