Enter your age, when you plan to start Old Age Security, your years in Canada after 18 and your net income. The calculator uses the July to September 2026 maximums of $751.97 a month at 65 to 74 and $827.17 from 75, scales them for a partial pension (years in Canada divided by 40) and adds 0.6% for every month you defer, up to 36% at 70. It works out the recovery tax, often called the OAS clawback, at 15% of income above $93,454 for 2025 income. It also shows the maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement for your situation and checks if your income is under the cut-off. It is an estimate: Service Canada and the CRA decide the actual amounts.

How to use the OAS and GIS Calculator

  2. Add your net world income and choose the income year, because the clawback threshold changes each year.
  3. The calculator applies the current maximums, the 1/40 rule for partial pensions, the 0.6% monthly deferral increase and the 15% recovery tax.
  4. Pick your situation for the Guaranteed Income Supplement to see the maximum and check if your income is under the cut-off.

Frequently asked questions

How much is OAS in 2026?

For July to September 2026 the maximum OAS pension is $751.97 a month at 65 to 74 and $827.17 a month from 75, which includes the automatic 10% increase. Amounts are reviewed every January, April, July and October to reflect the cost of living.

How does the OAS clawback work?

You repay 15% of your net world income above the threshold. For 2025 income the threshold is $93,454, repaid from July 2026 to June 2027. On $100,000 that is $981.90 a year, about $81.83 a month. On $120,000 it is $3,981.90, or $331.83 a month. The 2026 threshold is $95,323.

How much OAS will I get with fewer than 40 years in Canada?

A partial pension is the years you lived in Canada after 18 divided by 40. With 25 years you would get 25/40 of the maximum, about $469.98 a month at 65. You need at least 10 years in Canada after 18, or 20 years if you live abroad.

Is it worth deferring OAS to 70?

Each month you wait after 65 adds 0.6%, up to 36% at 70. A full pension rises from $751.97 to $1,022.68 a month. The catch: you cannot get the Guaranteed Income Supplement while you are not receiving OAS, so deferring rarely suits people on low incomes.

What is the GIS maximum and income limit?

For July to September 2026 a single person can get up to $1,123.17 a month if their income is under $22,800. Couples where both get the full OAS can each get up to $676.09 with combined income under $30,096. The exact amount comes from ESDC's tables or its OAS Benefits Estimator.
