Enter the CPP pension you expect at 65, as a share of the 2026 maximum of $1,507.65 a month, as the figure from your Service Canada statement, or as a rough guess from your work history. The calculator applies the official adjustment for each start age: 0.6% less for every month before 65, down 36% at 60, and 0.7% more for every month after 65, up 42% at 70. You see the monthly and yearly pension at each age from 60 to 70, the ages when a later start catches up with an earlier one, and the total paid to an age you choose. Amounts are in 2026 dollars. It is an estimate: Service Canada works out your actual pension from your contribution record.

Frequently asked questions

How much CPP will I get at 60 compared with 65?

Starting at 60 pays 36% less for life. At the 2026 maximum that is $964.90 a month at 60 against $1,507.65 at 65. For someone expecting the April 2026 average of $877.01 at 65, starting at 60 gives about $561.29 a month.

What is the maximum CPP payment in 2026?

The maximum CPP retirement pension for someone starting at 65 in 2026 is $1,507.65 a month. Waiting until 70 raises that by 42% to $2,140.86. Few people get the maximum: the average for new pensioners at 65 was $877.01 a month in April 2026.

At what age does waiting for CPP pay off?

Using the official adjustments, starting at 65 overtakes starting at 60 once you reach about 73 and 11 months. Starting at 70 overtakes 65 at about 81 and 11 months, and overtakes 60 at about 78 and 3 months. These ages are the same whatever your pension size.

How much is CPP reduced if I take it early?

Your pension drops by 0.6% for each month you start before 65, so 7.2% a year and 36% at 60. It rises by 0.7% for each month you wait after 65, so 8.4% a year and 42% at 70. The change is permanent.

How do I find out my exact CPP amount?

Sign in to My Service Canada Account and view your benefit estimates or your Statement of Contributions, which shows your pensionable earnings. This calculator only estimates. Its rough mode assumes a full pension needs about 39 years of earnings at the YMPE, so 30 years at 80% of the YMPE gives roughly 62% of the maximum.
