Get the rows out of a PDF table and into an .xlsx workbook that Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice can open. The columns are found from where the text lines up across rows, and each value goes into its column, so statements and price lists convert cleanly even when some cells are empty. Amounts in pounds, dollars, euros, yen or rupees, thousands separators, percentages and bracketed negatives are stored as numbers with a matching format, ready for SUM and filters. Leading-zero codes, dates and phone numbers stay as text. You can create one worksheet per page, named Page 1, Page 2 and so on, or a single sheet called PDF data. Scanned PDFs need OCR first. The workbook is built with SheetJS in your browser.

How to use the PDF to XLSX

  1. Choose the PDF file and enter its password if it has one.
  2. Type the pages that hold your table, or leave the box empty for all pages.
  3. Pick one worksheet per page or a single combined sheet.
  4. Click Convert and download the .xlsx workbook.

Frequently asked questions

Does the XLSX file open in Google Sheets?

Yes. XLSX is the standard Excel workbook format, and Google Sheets, Apple Numbers and LibreOffice Calc all open it. Upload it to Google Drive or open it directly from your downloads.

How are columns detected in a PDF table?

From spacing. Each line of text is split into cells wherever there is a wide gap between words, then placed left to right in the row. Each value is matched to its column position, so a row with an empty cell stays lined up; only wrapped or merged cells may need tidying.

Are currency amounts converted to numbers?

Yes. Values such as £1,234.50, €99, 15% or (250.00) become numeric cells with a matching number format, so you can use SUM straight away. Dates, phone numbers and codes with leading zeros are left as text.

Will it work on a scanned PDF?

No, not on its own. A scan has no selectable text and the tool stops with a message. Run the file through PDF OCR first, then convert the new PDF to XLSX and check the figures.

Are formulas or cell colours copied from the PDF?

No. A PDF only stores the printed values, so the workbook contains values and number formats. Borders, shading, merged cells and any original formulas are not recreated.
