Add one PNG or a whole batch, put them in order with the arrows, and get a single PDF back. Pick A4, Letter or Fit to image, where each page is exactly the size of its picture. Margins can be none, small or large. Image quality defaults to High, which stores each image as a JPEG at 92%; choose Lossless to keep every pixel of screenshots and text, at the cost of a bigger file. Transparent areas are placed on white. Images are treated as 96 DPI and are only ever scaled down to fit the page, never stretched. You can also untick one image per page to stack several screenshots on each sheet. The files stay on your device throughout.

How to use the PNG to PDF

  1. Drop your PNG files onto the page or click to choose them.
  2. Use the arrows to put the images in the order you want the pages.
  3. Choose the page size, margin and image quality, picking Lossless if the images contain small text.
  4. Click Convert to PDF and download the finished file.

Frequently asked questions

Is PNG to PDF conversion lossless?

Only if you choose it. The default High setting saves each image as a 92% JPEG, which looks the same for most pictures but is not pixel-perfect. Pick Lossless in the Image quality options to embed the PNG data exactly, which suits screenshots with small text but gives a larger PDF.

What happens to transparent backgrounds in a PNG?

Transparent areas become white. Every image is drawn onto a white background before it goes into the PDF, so logos and cut-outs will sit on a white page rather than turning black or showing a checkerboard.

How do I put several PNGs on one PDF page?

Choose A4 or Letter, then untick One image per page. Images are then stacked down the page with a small gap, and a new page starts when the next image will not fit. The Fit to image size always puts one image on each page.

Will my PNG be blown up to fill the page?

No. Images are treated as 96 DPI and are only scaled down when they are too big for the page and margins. A small screenshot will sit centred on an A4 page at its natural size rather than being stretched and blurred.

Can I make text in a PNG screenshot searchable?

Not with this tool, because it places pictures on pages and does not read the text in them. Once you have the PDF, run it through the PDF OCR tool to add a searchable, selectable text layer.
