Fixed PDF pages are hard to read on a phone or e-reader. This tool extracts the selectable text and rebuilds it as a reflowable EPUB 3 e-book, so the text resizes to fit any screen. Choose One per page to make each PDF page a chapter, or One per main heading to split the book wherever the largest headings appear. A table of contents is built in both the EPUB 3 and older NCX formats, and the title comes from the PDF's metadata or its file name. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and pictures are kept; the page layout is not. It suits novels, reports and articles more than illustrated books. Scans need PDF OCR first. The e-book is built in your browser.

  1. Open the PDF you want to read as an e-book.
  2. Choose whether chapters start on every page or at every main heading.
  3. Enter a page range if you only want part of the document.

Frequently asked questions

Will the EPUB work on a Kindle?

Yes, on current models. Amazon's Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB files and converts them for you. Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play Books and most other readers open EPUB directly.

How are chapters created?

You choose. One per page makes every PDF page its own chapter, which is predictable. One per main heading splits at the largest headings the tool detects, which gives a more natural book structure when the PDF has clear chapter titles.

Are images included in the EPUB?

No. The e-book contains the text, headings and lists only. Yes. Pictures are stored inside the EPUB and tables are kept, but page decoration and exact layout are not, so heavily designed magazines are still better read as PDFs.

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

Not directly. A scanned book has no text layer, so the tool stops with a message. Run the PDF through PDF OCR first, then convert it to EPUB and check the text for recognition errors.

Is the PDF uploaded to make the e-book?

No. Text extraction and EPUB packaging both happen in your browser, and the finished file downloads straight to your device, ready to copy to your e-reader.
