Upload a PDF invoice, or a JPG or PNG photo of one, up to 20 MB, and choose UK/EU or US date order. The invoice number, dates, supplier and customer names, PO number, payment terms, VAT rates and line items are read and placed into an editable form. UK, US and European amounts such as 1,234.56 or 1.234,56 € are both understood. Unlike most tools on this site, digital PDFs are uploaded to our server for this step, read in memory and not stored. Photos and scanned PDFs are read on your device and only the text is sent, unless AI reading is switched on; the page says which applies. Addresses, VAT numbers and bank details are not extracted. After review, export UBL 2.1 XML, CII XML or a Factur-X PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is my invoice uploaded?

Yes. Digital PDF invoices are sent to our server to read their contents, processed in memory and not stored. Photos and scanned PDFs are read on your device and only the text is sent. If AI reading is switched on, the page says so, and files our reader cannot parse are also sent to Google's Gemini service.

What does the extraction fill in?

It reads the invoice number, issue and due dates, supplier and customer names, PO number, payment terms, tax rate, shipping and line items. Addresses, VAT numbers and bank details are not extracted, so you must enter them before export.

How accurate is the extraction?

Clear, text-based invoices usually extract well, but always check each line. If the total printed on the invoice differs from the sum of the extracted lines, a warning tells you, which usually points to a misread quantity, price or tax rate.

Can I keep my original PDF design?

Yes. Tick Also embed factur-x.xml into my original PDF and the generated CII XML is attached to your own invoice file. This fails on encrypted PDFs, in which case use the new Factur-X PDF the tool creates instead.

Does it work with scanned invoices?

Yes, within limits. You can upload a JPG or PNG photo or a scanned PDF, but reading printed text from an image needs a sharp, well-lit, straight copy. Blurry or skewed scans give poor results, so expect to correct more fields by hand.

Does it read European invoices with comma decimals?

Yes. Amounts written as 1.234,56 €, 333,33 € or 1 234,56 are read the same way as £1,234.56 or $1,234.56. For example, a line reading 3 unit, 333,33 €, 10% discount, 19% VAT, 899,99 € is read as quantity 3, price 333.33 and total 899.99 at 19% VAT.
